DIRECTIONS: From the SOUTH;- M6 junction 36. take the 3rd turning off the roundabout onto the A65 Kirkby Lonsdale. 100yards take 1st left off roundabout to Crooklands. Turn left opposite the Crooklands Hotel, onto the B6385 where you will find the Showground.
From the NORTH;- M6 junction 36, take the 1st turning left onto A65 then follow the above direction

THE BSPS HOBBY HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP
This class will run between 11am & 1pm – entries on the day

The BSPS is a Children’s Society and, as such, it is important to ensure that we make sure our Championship Shows are fun for all our smaller members. This year we are going to run at some of our Areas Shows, ie BSPS Area 1A, BSPS Area 1B, BSPS Area 5, BSPS Area 1B to name a few a Hobby Horse Championship culminating in a Final at the Summer Championships. We hope that this will raise awareness of our extensive Children’s Entertainment programme at both the BSPS Summer and Winter Championships. All the Children’s Entertainment is free and includes a Playbus, Craft Room, Ibox Bus, Football competition, Fancy Dress, Disco and Fashion Show and parties for the adults and enables the BSPS to stand out against other major Society shows.
£300 Le Mieux vouchers will be awarded to the Overall winners and runners up, kindly sponsored by Le Mieux at the Summer Championships
HOBBY HORSE RULES
1. There will be 3 age ranges:
3 – 5 years
6 – 9 years
10 – 12 years
2. Competitors will enter the ring and will perform a freestyle show for no longer than 2 minutes.
3. Marks will be awarded for:-
4. Co-ordination, balance, Energy, and body control 50 marks
5. Overall Performance of the Show with elegance and appeal 50 marks
6. All competitors must have a hobby horse/stick horse and be mounted as they compete.
7. Shoes are required for all competitors. There is no specific dress code but trainers or gym shoes should be flexible to point your toes.
8. The Arena measures 7m x 14m
9. The judge signals when the competitor may enter the arena.
10. The judges decision is final.
11. Your Hobby Horse can be plaited or unplaited
12. The top 3 in each section to qualify for Final at Summer Championship
NPS CLASSES
NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in any of the British Riding Pony studbook sections or the Ridden Register; the GSB; the AHSB; the AASB, or registered in the main body of their respective M&M Stud Book. Part breds are not eligible unless overstamped into one of the British Riding Pony studbook sections. or the Ridden Register.
Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 2nd – 4th August 2024.
The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified.
NPS/Corscaron Horse Essentials Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit.

The NPS/PICTON STUD M&M Novice Ridden National Championship (MM-NR)
Open to pure bred registered M&M stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over.
A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year (NB: Please note any results from
2020 are exempt), it has done any of the following:
i. Won an open affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
ii. Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS Open M&M Ridden classes
iii. Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship
show (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do
not submit an entry to the final in the first year). 2020 is excluded when calculating consecutive years.
iv. If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS in its second year it is
immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Picton Final.
Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit.

A pony is not eligible to compete if it has qualified before 1st January in the current year for:
- The M&M Open Ridden Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show or
- ii) The M&M Supreme Ridden Championship Final at the BSPS Lemeiux final.
- iii) The M&M Open Ridden Championship Final at Longines Royal International Horse Show
