NEWSLETTER SPRING 2008

Area 1B Committee and members have been having a busy time since the last newsletter. Four training days have been organised and run successfully. In November a training day with Suzie Gibson was organised at Jenkinsons, Penrith, when members had a chance to have superb jumping tuition. Then in the Christmas Holidays Katy Carter, a BSPS accredited trainer, came to Inglewood Equestrian Centre at Penrith when despite the snowfall during the previous evening 20 members still managed to attend the training and thoroughly enjoyed it. A training day was held again in February with Suzie Gibson at Greenlands Penrith and 23 members attended. This proved very popular and the feedback was that the training was excellent. In the Easter holidays Judith Buckley held a days training at Ings and both flatwork and jumping lessons were held throughout the day. 18 members attended Ings and as usual this training day was as popular as ever. A photograph of one of the groups is actually on view on the website.

These training days do take a lot of organisation and are subsidised by Area 1B therefore it is hoped that in future members do support these days. Your feedback is always appreciated.

Dates for your diary

Newsletter, Schedules etc.

It has been decided that in future newsletters will not be sent out automatically to members, but they will be displayed on the area1b website. Schedules, points cards, committee contact details, can also be viewed on this website. If you do not have access to the internet and wish to receive hard copies of any of the above information in the post please could you please send a s.a.e. to either your Chairman, Carol Barker for general information, or the relevant show secretaries for schedules. This decision was made to reduce costs, i.e. postage, paper, and also reduce the workload of your already very busy Committee. It is recommended that you view this website weekly to get updates of information regarding notices of training and other news. If you have any concerns regarding this decision, please contact Carol on 07870317282 or 015395 31750 evenings. The website address is www.bspsarea1b.com

Young Judges

Tracey Brooks is the trainer and organiser for Young Judges again this year. The first training evening will start on 21st April 2008 at 7.pm at Tracey Brooks establishment, The Lodge, Curwen Woods, Burton, Carnforth LA6 1NZ. Telephone Tracey and leave a message on 01524 781582 to let her know you will be attending. Everyone is welcome to the initial training evenings, any age, come along and enjoy the training. You will find it very interesting, have some fun, meet other members and gain lots of experience. You will learn about conformation, way of going, manners, and turnout. Also it will be explained what judges look for when judging classes. Training evenings will be held throughout the summer until a suitable team is chosen. The competition will be held at the Summer Championships.

Fund Raising

If anyone has any ideas or wishes to organise some fundraising or a social event for area1b, please contact a committee member, or e mail carol on carolfiddlerhall@tiscali.co.uk The area allocated an amount for training purposes for 2008, but if you wish us to continue to organise these training days then funds must be raised in order to pay towards the cost and also the cost of the points/presentation party.
